Activity description

Explore the South Coast of Iceland and admire the spectacular Mýrdalsjökull glacier on this snowmobile day trip from Reykjavík!

If you are looking for a fun and authentic experience in Iceland, this snowmobile trip is perfect for you. Guided by a professional and local guide, you’ll ride a snowmobile and explore the southern coast from Reykjavík to Mýrdalsjökull glacier.

This snowmobile adventure kicks off in Reykjavík where your expert local guide will pick you up from your accommodation. From there you will head south along the coast until you reach base, perfectly located at the foothill of the glacier. At base, your guide will go over safety precautions and will provide you with a snowsuit and helmet for warmth, safety, and comfort. Next, you will step into the super-jeep and head up towards the glacier to the snowmobile location. Driving these snowmobiles is easy, no previous experience is required. You only need a driver's license to join as a driver or you’ll join as a passenger.

This scenic ride will expose stunning views over southern Iceland. Your guide will take you all around the Mýrdalsjökull glacier where underneath the 750 meters of thick ice lies the caldera of the Katla volcano. Then, this amazing snowmobile day trip to the south coast of Iceland will end and you’ll return to Reykjavík. On your way back, you will get the chance to stop and admire the picturesque Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls.
