Activity description

Explore the arctic on this skiing touring adventure in Lapland. Take a pair of Ski and get down of the mountain with this magic view!

Travel to one of Finland’s most underrated ski resorts for a full day skiing experience in the White North, following the Tagia treeline through pistes slopes and wide backcountry terrain – experiencing true arctic skiing as you climb to new peaks and slalom into the great unknown. Discover Pello Ski Resort – ideal for snowball first-timers and black run veterans alike.

Location
Pello Ski Resort (Ritavalkea) is located 40-minute drive outside of central Rovaniemi. The winter sports centre is located about 7 km out of Pello in the direction of Rovaniemi. Ritavalkea is home to five downhill slopes ranging from 800 to 1,000 metres in length. The vertical drop of these slopes is about 120 metres.

Activity
Meet your instructor/guide at the activity base in Rovaniemi for this full-day ski touring adventure in Pello Ski Resort. Ideal for friends and families alike, groups are organised according to age and previous experience – allowing everyone the chance to enjoy the scenery of Lapland, no matter whether they’ve skied before. Depending on your skill level, beginners will be accompanied by an instructor – whilst more seasoned riders will follow a lead guide – offering two separate routes at different levels of difficulty. Allowing for a full 6 hours of skiing, the versatile cross-country skiing tracks that meet and surpass FIS competition requirements are the jewel in the crown of this winter sports centre – representing some of the best off-piste and slalom terrains in the area. A beautiful location surrounded by arctic forest, learn the basics on the safety of the green slopes – or head off into the diverse backcountry until early dusk, where you will leave the resort and return to Rovaniemi.

Conditions
Operating during the Finnish ski season that runs from December to May, there are many downhill skiing options suited to all levels of ability. The slopes of Ritavaara are ideal for beginners and families with small children, whilst Svanstein - located just 28 km away on the Swedish side, has slopes that will prove exhilarating for more seasoned skiers.
