Activity description

Float below the heavens on this alternative Northern Lights experience near Rovaniemi!

Lay back and watch the world’s most dramatic light show on this ice floating experience in Lapland. An alternative way to experience the Northern Lights, travel deep into the Taiga Forest to a scenic lake – suiting up in an extreme arctic wetsuit where you can float along – counting the multitude of colours that make up the infamous Aurora.

Location
This activity takes place near Rovaniemi in the Lapland area of Finland. Operating on a scenic lake in the Taiga Arctic Forest, it’s isolated placement makes it the ideal location for star gazing and Northern Lights viewing due to its low light pollution and unobstructed view.

Activity
Meet your guide at the activity-based in Rovaniemi for this ice floating experience in Lapland. One of the weirdest ways to experience the Northern Lights, this scenic experience is suitable for groups of friends and families alike thanks to the use of a specialised Arctic drysuit  - a high quality floating rescue suit that covers your whole body and keeps you warm and dry. As you have your own clothing under the suit you will not get cold even in the open 0-degree water. Heading deep into the Boreal Forest to reach a scenic lake, suit up with these expertly insulated head-to-toe suits as your team break up the ice – allowing you to dip into the water and lie on your back to watch the stars and magnificent Aurora Borealis. Afterwards, there will be hot grog and ginger snacks waiting for you – allowing you to get cosy before you are transported back to the city centre where your adventure will end.

Ice floating in October without Ice, but thousands of stars! The suites were fitting properly and as long as you listen to your guides and don't move your arms too much you stay dry inside ;-) Northern lights appeared after our little get-together and we got some great pictures

Amazing activity to try, float in the lake is very relaxing... If you have the chance to see the aurora should be fantastic, but it was not our case

Even though we weren’t lucky enough to see the aurora, the activity was still so worth it. Definitely would recommend.
