Get to know Polynesian Spirit

Polynesian Spirit has been providing amazing sailing excursions in northern Moorea, French Polynesia since May 2017!

On a traditional Polynesian pirogue boat, Captain Hervé Bourmaud has developed a range of fantastic paradise excursions that provide tourists with a truly unique view of this amazing Pacific Island.

Offering both half-day tours and sunset trips, by group or privately, Polynesian Spirit has made its name sailing through both Cook and Opunohu Bays. They also touch the renowned natural lagoons that surround the area.

Whether it’s something to entertain the family, enjoy with friends or a pair of newlyweds on their honeymoon, Polynesian Spirit tours have something for everyone.

The boat was initially built in the 1990s and has since been used in sailing competitions and tourist excursions. In late 2016, Hervé restored the boat into the beautiful sailing vessel it is today. His sailing experience has taken him through the seven seas, including several years in and around the south pacific.

With beautiful clear blue hues, the waters around Moorea’s north are home to some of the most stunning sea life in the Pacific Ocean. Expect close-up encounters with baby lemon sharks and stingrays. You will also see coral reefs, sea turtles and reef sharks in safe and guarded surroundings.

The volcanic peaks that surround Moorea also provide jaw-dropping panoramic views, with rich tropical jungle covering large swaths of this paradise island.

A visiblement une très bonne connaissance de la mer, mais ce jour là, peu disposé à échanger.

Elvie (I may have the spelling wrong) was a great guide - down to earth and really knowledgeable. Very in tune with the ocean too.

Polynesian spirit was good and he provided fresh fruit and drinks which I didn't expect. If you are arriving to moorea on a boat you have to get a taxi to the marina where he operates from as it's too far to walk. Getting a taxi back is the issue unfortunately. We had to walk for a while before we flagged one down. Also the boat has no shade cover so ensure you either cover up or bring a lot of sunscreen as you won't be able to get out of the sun.
