Come and learn how to dive on a scuba diving course in Santorini! Accompanied by the certified instructors of Santorini Dive Center, you can work towards your level 1 diving certificate - the PADI Open Water - or you can venture further into your diving skills and work for your Advanced Open Water Certificate.
These scuba diving courses start from Akrotiri, which is the perfect starting point to go and explore the volcanic sea bed of the island of Santorini.
PADI Open Water Certificate in Akrotiri
The Padi Open Water Certificate is the first level of all the internationally recognised diving certificates. By the end of this course, you will be qualified to dive down to 18 m (19 yards) anywhere in the world. The only prerequisites to this course are a minimum age of 10 and a love of diving.
During your Open Water scuba diving course in Santorini, you will combine the theory of scuba diving with the practice. It can be completed over 4 days and at the end of the course, you will get your certificate allowing you to dive anywhere in the world at 18 m.
Before starting the dives you will cover subjects like diving physics, physiology, medicine, environment, and dive safety. You can complete the e-course from the comfort of your couch (or a nice café overlooking the Aegean), and then get ready for some action in the dive centre.
Over the course of your 4 days, you will complete 4 open water dives in the Greek sea with your instructor. You will learn how to use your scuba gear, buoyancy techniques, how to dive from a boat and navigation. At the end of the course, you will celebrate becoming a certified diver!
Advanced Open Water Certificate in Akrotiri
The Advanced Open Water Certificate is accessible only to people who already have their Open Water certificate. This course allows you to go further on your diving journey, and the PADI certificate you will acquire will allow you to dive as far as 30 m (32 yards) anywhere in the world.
The Advanced Open Water consists of 5 speciality dives. Some technical dives are compulsory for the completion of the course, such as your Deep Dive and your Navigation Dive. Then, you will be free to select 3 more technical dives from the following: Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Diving, Underwater Naturalist, Boat Diving, Fish Identification, and Night Diving. The coast of Santorini offers plenty of incredible spots to complete these dives, and your instructor will help you make an informed decision about which dives you would like to complete.
At the end of the course, you will be awarded your PADI Advanced Open Water Certificate at the centre of Akrotiri.
Scuba diving in Santorini is tremendous fun. The marine life here is diverse and colourful, and the volcanic qualities of the sea bed are definitely worth the exploration.
