Activity description

Snowmobile safari gives you the opportunity to venture far into the wilderness. Experience the mountains of the far north! If you are really lucky the Northern Lights will be dancing above you for the evening excursion!

Come with us to our wilderness centre in Camp Tamok, only a 90-minute scenic drive from Tromsø. Upon arrival, you will be directed to the equipment room, where you will be provided with warm clothes and shoes for the day. Here you can also leave anything you don’t need on the tour. We will go through our safety instructions and give you some practical demonstrations on how to drive the snowmobile.

You will drive in pairs with one driver and one passenger per snowmobile and have plenty of opportunities to switch places during the adventure between the snow-covered mountains up to a frozen lake.

After driving back down the trail and parking the snowmobiles, we will serve you a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, it is time to head back to Tromsø and tick another adventure off your bucket list!

Note! In order to drive the snowmobile, you need to be a minimum of 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license.

Please note: snowmobiles are shared (even if booking as 1 person)

Very original and easy to learn, we had a wonderful time

  • 5 / 5

There wasn’t enough snow during the period we went so the drive was not very long but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • 5 / 5

Super fun way to see the northern Norwegian landscape. We didn't see Aurora Borealis, but the trip was so fun it didn't matter. Would definitely do it again!

  • 4.3 / 5

The suits provided are perfect for keeping you warm. Speed is required for a smooth ride so it was unfortunate we were behind someone going sooo slowly! It was an awful lot of fun, and the food provided at the end was very good. The only downside was the wait for the coach to get us there, which was about 15 minutes late.

Perfect staff, flawless organization, powerful snowmobile…everything incredible

  • 5 / 5

Loved the activity!! We rode our sled and it was so much fun!

  • 5 / 5

It was a fun activity, get to enjoy the scenery while driving/riding the snowmobile. The guide took to share some stories during the break and enjoy couple rounds of driving at faster speed before heading back. The fish soup is one of nicest food I had in Tromso.

  • 3.8 / 5

Only able to drive 2/3 of distance promised due to snow in valley. Rather than having 2 extended stops, it would have been more enjoyable to do 2 short circuits so more time driving

Enjoyed the snowmobile experience as first timers.

  • 5 / 5

A great way to experience real arctic weather using snowmobiles and commentary from the guides.

  • 5 / 5

Lovely experience with plenty of chances to swap drivers. It’s a gentle ride through the scenery, which is stunning, but you do also have a chance at the end to push the snowmobiles and go faster. We reached 80 km/h and did 2 or 3 loops!

  • 5 / 5

Really amazing experience! Great instructors, snowmobiling through a winter wonderland and then enjoying some reindeer stew to warm up when we got back. They even provided some gluten free bread for me!

  • 5 / 5

Gained a lot of knowledge and experience going on a snowmobile for the first time

  • 5 / 5

I booked for my wife and I to ride on a snowmobile. The company gave us a call and email the day before to explain there had been some avalanches, this meant we wouldn’t be able to go at the time arranged. The company offered for us to pick another slot which we happily did. The trip was brilliant, the guide was a kind, funny, charismatic man from Iceland. He took us as far as was safe to do due to the avalanches, then took some photos with us. The food was tasty and we had a great night.

Snowmobiling was great fun at night. The whole experience was wonderful at Camp Tamok. Good value for money with the evening meal in the Sami tent too. Just wanted a little longer on the snowmobiles!

Snowmobile => Even though we could not get to the lake because of the weather, we were still able to enjoy and test our limit on a small ring they prepared as a replacement :)

Snowmobile safari

  • 5 / 5

Brilliant activity, well organised and very fun

  • 4 / 5

Well organised, but with so many on one track all the time though it got very corregated.

  • 5 / 5

A brilliant activity. We were taught how to drive the snow mobiles and then taken into the mountains. The guides were great allowing time for lots of breaks (it is quite hard on the arms when you first start from holding on tightly) They even stopped so our children (and anybody else in the group) could try sledging.

  • 5 / 5

the snowmobile track was through different types of snowy terrain including woods and tundra with spectacular views of the mountains. We stopped on a frozen lake for a breather then had some free time to try out the bike by ourselves before heading back to camp for a hot meal.

  • 5 / 5

So much fun, breathtaking scenery, value for money.

  • 4.5 / 5

The tour was good, could have a little more freedom to those who want to go faster and the weather can be a bit bigger

  • 4.5 / 5

We went on the daytime snowmobiling excursion and it was really good fun, we went completely out into the middle of nowhere through the mountains. It was a shame we couldn’t make it to the top and we had to turn back due to time and also my partner would have liked to have a bit of time where he could really put the snow mobile to the test but unfortunately wasn’t able to. The meal was lovely after in a little tipi with a warm fire and warm tea.

Thiriling experience up in the mountains on a snowmobile in the dark Wow ! I would recommend to anyone but not for the faint hearted 🤪
