Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Explore the mountains and valleys with your own team of sled dogs during a full day mushing expedition!
Each member of the excursion will be responsible for their own pack of huskies and will experience every aspect of a musher's life in the Arctic.
Your dog sledding adventure lasts about 6 hours and you can enjoy the stunning beauty of the Arctic wilderness as you head out from Tromsø Villmarkssenter on Kvaløya island (just outside Tromsø). An experienced team will support you all the way and teach you to control the sled and take care of your team.
When you return to the camp, a warm Lavvu (Sami tent) will be waiting for you to relax in. You'll be served a traditional meal, a Bidos (Reindeer stew with vegetables) with tea or coffee, and a chocolate cake (vegetarian option also available).
No previous experience is needed but the trip requires a good physical shape. The Alaskan huskies are very friendly but love to run so it's important that you can control them throughout the day.
With a little luck, you'll be able to spot wildlife along the route such as Fox, Eagles, Arctic and Snowshoe Hares, Moose, and Reindeers!
You will have the opportunity to try driving a dog sled yourself. Each member of the expedition will lead a team of huskies on their own through the pristine beauty of the Arctic wilderness.
