Meribel, Les Trois Vallées: What to do when you get there?

Discover what to do in Méribel ! Meribel is one of the 3 resorts that make up the 3 Valleys area, known as the largest in the world.

Founded in 1936 by Peter Lindsay, a Scottish man who was looking to create a ski resort to avoid the controversial German and Austrian resorts at the time. During his visit to Les Allues, Mr Lindsay decided to build his project around the town. In 1938, the first ski lift was built and officially launched winter tourism in the brand new Alpine resort: Méribel. In order to preserve the traditional style of the village, the hotels and other buildings had to fit in with the Savoyard codes.

Today, Méribel is one of the most expensive resorts in Europe and popular with everyone. The resort is part of the largest ski area in the world with 600 km of slopes: Les Trois Vallées.

In the middle of the national nature reserve of the Plan de Tueda, Méribel enjoys an exceptional natural setting. Located between the Vanoise Park and the Col du Soufre, the resort has always sought to improve activities to enhance the visitor experience.

The resort has made visitor satisfaction its priority, which is why Méribel offers a wide range of services and activities to ensure that every guest is happy. In summer and winter, there are dozens of activities available for everyone.

When the Alps are covered in snow, set out to discover the valleys and lakes of the region. Put on snowshoes and get deep into the local wildlife to enjoy the beautiful scenery! Starting from Meribel, you can see the Col du Soufre from a unique perspective while walking through the Plan de Tueda National Nature Reserve. Known for being part of the largest ski area in the world, discover the 3 valleys and its 600 km of slopes on skis or snowboard for maximum fun! With plenty of activities to do on site, you won't be bored this winter. Between snowparks, sledging parks, snowmobiles and others, you just have to choose what to do in Méribel!

More unusual, come and try ice climbing! From December to February, the rivers freeze and form superb ice falls. The perfect opportunity to discover this Nordic discipline with ice axes in hand and crampons on your feet!

Get a bird's eye view of the Alps from the sky. Under the fresh winter snow, take off in a plane or a hot air balloon in the sky of Méribel for an unforgettable activity. From above, a unique panorama will be offered to you... So get out your cameras to immortalise this moment!

Once the snow has melted, Méribel and its surroundings change its face and its catalogue of activities! On foot or on horseback, go for a walk on the paths of the Alps and discover the magnificent landscapes of the surrounding valleys and mountains. If you're looking for a thrill, try an unforgettable canyoning trip down one of Savoie's many fast-flowing rivers. On the mountain slopes, try rock climbing or head to a via-ferrata for a unique experience from Méribel!

Finally, for a breath of fresh air, take a paragliding flight over the Plan de Tuéda National Nature Reserve. A unique panorama will be offered to you and will leave you with fantastic memories! Discover the Col du Soufre, the Dent Parraché and the Parc de la Vanoise from the sky!
