Activity description
Wander along the Garden Route - a piece of paradise on the south-eastern coast of South Africa. Search for Africa's Big 5 animals in their natural habitat, from an open 4x4 vehicle in a malaria-free private game reserve.
Set your sense of adventure free; bungy jump, walk along forest footpaths, canoe in the wilderness, crawl deep underground in the Cango Caves and interact with African wildlife.
• Day 1: Cape Town – Oudtshoorn
You'll be picked up in the morning from Cape Town or Stellenbosch. Then you'll journey through the semi-desert of the Klein Karoo as you travel along Route 62, a scenic road meandering all the way from Cape Town to Oudtshoorn. Tour deep underground in the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains, admiring the illuminated limestone formations of the Cango Caves. You'll stay overnight in Oudtshoorn
• Day 2: Oudtshoorn – Sedgefield
Get up early for an optional Elephant Bush Walk. Learn more about these gentle giants as you walk with them in a natural environment. Jump into a two-man canoe and row gently down the river of the Wilderness National Park. Face your fears with this optional activity as you bungee from the world’s highest bungee-jumping bridge. You'll stay overnight in Sedgefield.
• Day 3: Sedgefield – Cape Town
Spot some of Africa’s Big 5 and other wildlife from an open top 4x4 safari vehicle in a malaria-free private game reserve and explore the Garden Route's fauna and flora on foot with a tranquil bush walk. You'll travel back to reach Cape Town by the evening.
Meals:
- Breakfast for each overnight stay is available to purchase at your overnight accommodation or you can buy snacks from supermarkets.
- Lunch will be en route with limited time and limited options to choose from.
- Dine at famous restaurants or book meals with the overnight accommodation. Your guide can advise you and arrange transport you to the best local restaurants each night.
Some hostels even have communal kitchens to prepare your own food, if you wish to buy the ingredients at towns on tour to prepare your own breakfast and dinner.
Accommodation
You will share a dormitory in a hostel with the rest of the group.
There is a free transport service from Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Somerset West town centres (within a 10km radius of city centre).
The exact itinerary is subject to change and may, on occasion run in reverse or different order.
You can decide if you want to do these and book and pay for it on tour. Some optional activities are seasonal or subject to weather conditions.
