Sierra de Guara: What to do when you get there?

The Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park is located in the Sierra de Guara mountain range, in Huesca province, northern Spain. It is one of the world's best spots for canyoning.

It covers an area of 47 450 ha, in addition to 33 775 ha in the peripheral zone. Its highest peak is at Tozal of Guara, reaching an altitude of 2 077 metres.

The park is overflowing with hills, cliffs, caves, gorges and canyons. The limestone reliefs were formed as a result of the erosion of natural watercourses, of the rain and the wind. The park hosts a large and diverse range of ecosystems with wildlife well adapted to bioclimatic diversity. The specific canyons were created by the Alcanadre, Flumen, Guatizalema, Vero and Mascún rivers.

During your stay, you'll have the chance to gaze at impressive bird species such as the golden eagle, the griffon vulture, as well as the bearded vulture.

Sierra de Guara has more than a hundred different canyons: wide, narrow, dry or aquatic, horizontal or more vertical with different types of rocks to practice on. There are also different kind of ecosystems and varied landscapes a lot more than on other canyoning sites. The experimented guides of Expediciones school will enjoy sharing all the secrets of the park with you during amazing excursions. During this trip, the objectives are to learn or improve new canyoning techniques such as abseiling, hiking, freediving and follow the safety rules; but also practice jumps, slides and swimming.

The spot is also a haven for all fans of via ferrata, hiking, rock climbing and mountain cycling.
