Aveyron: What to do when you get there?

Aveyron is a French department in Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrénées region, in the southwest of France. The department is largely rural and boasts magnificent and wild nature, because it is the center of a triangle formed by the cities of Toulouse, Clermont-Ferrand and Montpellier, without including any.

The beautiful nature of this department and its rich heritage makes it a well-known destination for cultural tourism, rural tourism and of course for outdoor activities. Between sightseeing in Conques (UNESCO World Heritage Site) or visiting some of the several numerous Templar sites Aveyron has, it is indeed easy to squeeze in adrenaline activities in the department's beautiful settings.

For rock-climbing, the gorges of the Jonte, Tarn and Dourbie rivers form renowned and very scenic sites with more than 1000 routes (with a good number bolted), including many very aerial multipitchs. The Causses (dry rugged plateaus) and the many reliefs also create stunning settings for paragliding, hang gliding or mountain biking.

In Spring or in the Summer time, the beautiful gorges of the Tarn river, whose descent in kayak or canoe usually ends in Millau, are also worth setting aside a few days. Finally, for those looking for raw adrenaline, it is also possible to practice bungee jumping in Aveyron!
