Ithaca: What to do when you get there?

Ithaca is one of the seven main islands of the Ionian Sea. It is located in a very strategic point which gives its visitors access to the other main islands as Kefalonia, Lefkas, Zante and some untouched remote islands.

Ithaca is only 25km long from North to South, but it has a huge history. It is globally known as the home of king Ulysses who invented the Trojan horse and ended the war at Troy, between the Greeks and the Persians. He became a symbol of adventure travelling, searching his way back home.

The great ancient Greek poet Homer described the story of Ulysses in his famous poetries Iliad and Odyssey which have been read all around the world.

Ithaca has 3000 permanent residents. Its economy is based in two main sectors: Tourism and shipping. Many captains and ship owners come from Ithaca. The little island always welcomes its visitors and every traveler in a very unique way.

You can get to Ithaca by flying to Zante or Athens and then getting a ferry. There are plenty of activities in the island, especially in water like scuba diving, sea kayaking and many more.
