Spanish Catalan Pyrenees: What to do when you get there?

The Catalan Pyrenees located north to Catalonia, is the place where you’ll find everything for your next adventure.  Regardless the season, the spot offers a plethora of winter and summer activities that you can enjoy.

During winter, you can ski on the slopes of one of the many ski resorts in the area, or you can try the slopes of the well-known Catalonian ski resort Vallter 2000. Located in the top of the summits, the resort has proven to be a favourite with ski mountaineering and snowshoeing, for of its access to the peaks of the Pugimal (2913m) or Pastuira (2692m) mountains.

Climb up the Pica d’Estats (3142m), the highest point of the mountain range providing panoramic views of the Gerona area. Mountain bikers and 4x4 drivers have endless tracks to the beautiful valleys all around them.  But if you’re not much a rider you can always hike, walk or trek through the National Park of Aiguestortes I Estany de Sant Maurici, the only national park in Spain located in the core of the Catalan Pyrenees.

Unveil the hidden lakes and waterfalls situated deep in the woods. Travellers can try canoeing excursions or even scuba diving expeditions in the most profound waters, discovering the aquatic flora and fauna of the Catalan Pyrenees.
