Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Combine the authentic experience of reindeer sledding with a guided visit to the magical Tromsø Ice Domes!
Join us for an authentic experience at our wilderness center Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic bus drive away from the city center of Tromsø.
Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, we dress in warm winter clothes and boots and then head off to explore the ancient part of Sami culture and try the oldest form of transport in the North. As our reindeer herd is some distance from our barking huskies, this activity will start with a short transfer by minibus to our Sami Camp. This fascinating cultural adventure includes reindeer sledding, an introduction to lasso throwing, storytelling about the Sami culture and feeding the reindeer.
After the reindeer sledding activity, we will serve lunch and your adventures will continue with a guided tour at the Ice Domes. Get to marvel at the incredible ice sculptures and snow carvings, learn about the construction process of the domes and the impact the snow has on all life in the Arctic and have a non-alcoholic ice shot at the ice bar.
As part of this combination tour, there will be some free time to walk around by yourself and visit the reindeer that are herding next to the Ice Domes. Eventually, your daytime adventure has come to an end, and it will be time to board the bus back to Tromsø city center.
Maximum weight of 220kg per sled
