Activity description

The ultimate arctic adventure, experience the northern lights on this dog sledding tour in Swedish Lapland.

An unparalleled adventure in northern Sweden, experience one of the world's most stunning natural phenomena on this Northern Lights tour. Led through the winter wilderness by an expert musher, cut through ice and snow with a pack of Alaskan Huskies - stopping to marvel in Mother Nature's spectacular light show deep in the arctic Taiga!

Location
This tour is run & operated from Kauppinen on the outskirts of Kiruna. You can fly from Stockholm to Kiruna in 90 minutes. Every day all year round there are usually 2-3 direct flights from Arlanda. Return transfers within a 20km radius of the activity base are included.

Activity
Meet your guide at the activity base for this dog sledding & northern lights tour. Situated in the high arctic, the Taiga forests are considered to be one of the best and most reliable places to view the Northern Lights - thanks to the lack of light pollution and the clear night sky. A bucket list experience for children and big kids alike, each sled can carry up to 4 passengers - making it perfect for small groups and families. Start by meeting the dogs and wrapping up for the adventure before you set off into the arctic Taiga. Pulled through the snow by 12 powerful Alaskan Huskies, travel along wild yet well-maintained tracks in the wilderness - chasing the Aurora Borealis across frozen rivers and lakes to a rustic cabin deep in the woods. Here, you'll take a short break for traditional 'Fika' and cookies - a chance to capture this unique natural phenomenon with the help of an experienced guide. Heading back under the moonlight over the glittering snow and ice, travel back through the forest to the activity base where you can have a last cuddle with the dogs before your return transport will take you back to your accommodation.

Conditions
Operating during the winter season from November - March, this tour is suitable for all ages and abilities. This activity operates with a two-person minimum per tour - max 4 people per sled. Please note that sightings of the Northern Lights cannot be guaranteed.

The lamp is strong and you can correctly see the trees and the snow. We did not see the northern light s but it would have been only bonus :)

Nous n’avons pas vu les aurores tant espérées mais c’était tout de même très sympa. Le personnel est top. Ils prévoient tout l’équipement nécessaire pour avoir bien chaud.

It was a fantastic experience! Must try in life. The guide was awesome. Shared with us a lot of cultural information. Dogs were so adorable and lovely. They were very enthusiastic about the run and their stamina were unbeatable! Drove us miles and more than an hour. Strongly recommend this must try activity.

Expérience magique. Inoubliable. Les sensations sont bonnes et l'activité en elle-même est culte en Suède. La pause café/ viennoiseries est très intéressante, nous en avons profité pour parler avec le reste du groupe et le musher.

We loved the dog sledding experience! The dogs we so well behaved and excited to take us for a ride. Unfortunately we didn't see the northern lights but the ride through the snowy forest was so stunning anyway and we saw so many stars!

The pick up worked well. We got extra warm overalls and boots. The musher was great and we got a lot of information.
