Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Embark on a private guided whale safari along the Norwegian fjord for your chance of witnessing some of the world's largest mammals - close up!
Visiting Finnmark in the winter is highly recommended. This activity offers a combination of exploring the beautiful Fjords of Northern Norway and experiencing the world’s largest mammal: the whale.
Near Alta, you can spot an abundance of different species. The humpback whale is the most common, but on some trips you may even find killer whales and other species of orca and Scandinavian wildlife.
The start point is adjusted based on the whale's movement and where they have been last spotted, to maximize your chances of spotting them! Once on the boat, you will make your way out into the fjords, and turn off the engines to allow the nearby whales to wander without disturbance. Whales are curious creatures, so they will most likely swim close to the boat to say hello!
You will be provided with warm clothing for the boat trip around Norway’s icy waters - although it is recommended you bring along your own thermal underwear.
